John Bowser

I have had a knife in my hand since I was a child in Nova Scotia, and my enthusiasm continues many decades later.
In my middle years most of my work was commercial, from signs for housing developments to cottage signs.
I joined the Outaouais Wood Carvers in the mid eighties, and held various executive positions for fifteen years.
My wife began carving after her retirement, which continues to please me enormously.
I have tried it all - in-the-round, relief, chip carving, wood burning. If you can think of it, I have at least tried. A passion is sharpening. A nation tool company had me teaching sharpening courses for many years, and routinely sent me to run seminars for such groups as the International Guild of Timber Framers. A sideline has been making hundreds of detail carving knives over the years. Currently, I am making kolrossing knives.
