John Bowser is an OWC member who has been teaching the how’s and why’s of carving for more than two decades. John will teach you the techniques to carve a simple spoon. He will have various samples of decorative spoons to whet your appetite to carve even fancier spoons.



Target Audience: Beginner to more Advanced Carvers

  • 2 basswood blanks will be included.

  • A short demonstration on Kolrossing will be included as a small bonus.


Tools:

  • Suggested tools for this project are knives, palm or full size gouges- sizes three to seven.

  • Hook tool or spoon gouge (some will be available to use)

  • A clamp or bench hook may be an asset however, not required.

  • Please note the instructor will have sharpening aids on site as well.

       


Please bring your food and drink to class so we can use our time as best we can.

You will be required to sign a waiver which will supplied at the class.


Note: The minimum # of participants required to run the course is 4 and maximum 10.

Fee: OWC member $ 30

        Non-member $ 50 (includes a reduced $20 annual membership fee)


Registration deadline is Monday, April 13th, 2026

Cancellation refunds given only with 4 days' notice of the course, by Tues. April 14th, 2026
