Join us as Bob Gander teaches how to carve a geometric form as shown. We will block out, shape and detail the mobius strip.

You will also have time to get creative and design your next geometric form with paper strips.

Bob Gander has been a carver since the 1980s. He has carved in a variety of styles: in-the-round, relief, caricature, stylized, realistic (and nearly realistic) and even a little chip carving. His preferred subjects are mammals (including humans) and geometric forms. He has competed successfully in local, national and international wood carving competitions.

Target Audience: Anyone who has taken the intro or beginner class up to more experienced carvers

Note: The minimum # of participants required to run the course is 4 and maximum 8.

Tools required:

A sturdy cut resistant glove for your non dominant hand is essential for the course.

A bench hook.

A carving knife, although most work will be done with gouges

A 1/2" (12 mm) to 3/4" (18 mm) wide gouge with a #3 or #5 sweep. we may have a few suitable gouges, but since it's a very useful gouge, you should consider purchasing one. Lee Valley has Henry Taylor gouges, or you can go online for Pfeil, Two Cherry or other good quality gouge. Christmas is coming wink-wink!

A small roughly 1/4" or (6 mm) gouge (#5 or #7)
