Join us as Jeff Hewitt shows us how to carve a 1/2 decoy of a Lesser Scaup.


A little bit from Jeff about his carving experience:

My family and I moved to Ottawa from North Bay in June 2024. While in North Bay, I belonged to the North Bay Carving Club for about a decade before it dissolved in 2020 because of Covid and the lack of a facility to carve in. During that time, I carved mostly ducks and songbirds. I am primarily a power carver. Since joining the Outaouais Carving club in the fall of 2024, I have started to expand my carving horizons by taking advantage of the excellent courses offered by the club members.



Target Audience: experienced beginner to intermediate level carver.


Note: The minimum # of participants required to run the course is 4 and maximum 6.


Tools required:

  • Carving Knife

  • Gouges- assorted sizes

  • Pencil, Eraser

  • Ruler

  • Calipers if possible

  • Sandpaper

  • A sturdy cut resistant glove for your non dominant hand is essential for the course.



Please bring your food and drink to class so we can use our time as best we can.

You will be required to sign a waiver which will supplied at the class.


Fee: OWC member $ 40

        Non-member $ 60 (includes a reduced $20 annual membership fee)

Cancellation refunds given only with 4 days' notice of the course, by Tues. March 10th, 2026
