INTRODUCTION TO PYROGRAPHY St Columba Church, 24 Sandridge Rd, Ottawa, ON K1K 0A8 confirmation of place and time to follow This one-day course is designed to teach participants the basics of pyrography (Wood Burning). OWC member Pam Laprise has been doing pyrography since 2013. She will explain and demonstrate: Supplies Pyrography machines/pens/tips Safety- what to burn, what NOT to burn Wood prep, patterns and design transfer What can I do with one pen? Texturing Tips and troubleshooting Adding colour and finishing You will work on a project utilizing some of the techniques learned. We will concentrate on discovering what you can do with just 3 pen tips- a writing tip, a shader tip and a skew. Wood and pattern will be provided for this project which will be similar to one of the below Fee: OWC member $ 30 Non-member $ 60 (includes a reduced $30 annual membership fee) Registration and payment are required in advance. INTRODUCTION TO SHARPENING CARVING TOOLS Presented by Outaouais Wood Carvers 1 day course Saturday October 24th, 2026, stay tuned for time confirmation St Columba Church, 24 Sandridge Rd, 24 Sandridge Rd, Ottawa, ON parking and entrance at rear of church Join John Bowser, a long-time member of OWC, as he teaches you how to sharpen your carving tools. He will provide and demonstrate most of the current abrasives for sharpening, and participants will learn proper shapes and honing skills. Please bring along all your carving tools and your current stones, strop and other sharpening aids. Also bring along your safety gloves. Target Audience: anyone who wants to learn how to sharpen carving knives/chisels.
